As an exchange student, you may choose any course at our faculty, regardless of the field or the academic year.
Language of Instruction:
Courses are typically taught in French, but we also offer a large number of courses in English.
If you are studying Biology, Life & Environmental Sciences, or Computer Science, you must take courses in both languages (English and French) to meet the required ECTS credits.
Grading & Credits:
France, like all EU member states, uses the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).
Self-nominations are not accepted. Your home university must nominate you to FGES.
Once nominated, you’ll receive all the necessary details about registration, course selection, and the updated course catalogue.

After the nomination deadline (fall term: 15/10 and spring term: 01/05), you will receive an email from information@univ-catholille.fr with your login credentials (ID and password) and instructions to complete your registration form.
You must complete the online application form and upload all required documents in PDF format.
For Non-European Students:
If you don’t have a French translation of your birth certificate yet, you may upload it in your native language for now. A certified French translation will be required upon arrival to register for French Social Security.
For European Students:
We recommend gathering all documents before you start the registration, as everything must be uploaded at once. No paper copies are needed upon arrival in Lille.
You can temporarily use the address of Université Catholique de Lille, you’ll be able to update your address later once you have secured your own accommodation.

No. For the AGORA application, a translation is not required.
However, an official French translation may be needed later for certain procedures in France, like opening a bank account or residency paperwork.

If your application is complete and nothing is missing, it will be validated, and you will receive your acceptance letter from FGES. You will later receive instructions and an invitation to an online welcome session to help you with course selection and answer any questions before arriving in Lille.
No, Université Catholique de Lille and FGES do not provide health insurance. You may choose any plan from your home country, but it should include medical repatriation coverage. Proof of insurance must be uploaded on AGORA with your application.
No. Your health insurance must cover your entire stay in France, including the full duration of your courses and exams.
You will receive your acceptance letter by email once your application form has been reviewed and validated (fall term: after the 15/11, Spring term: after the 1/06)

If the syllabus is not included in the documents you received, it means it’s not currently available. You’ll need to request it directly from the course instructor once classes begin. The International Relations Office does not provide syllabi.
A minimum level of B2 in French to attend courses taught in French.
No, if you are nominated to FGES, you are not permitted to take courses from other faculties.
The course selection in AGORA is preliminary. You’ll receive a form by email to finalize your choices. You can also update your selection during the in-person course selection meeting, followed by a two-weeks add/drop period to make final changes.
Yes. Erasmus students can take courses from both Bachelor’s and master’s programs, regardless of their current level of study.

No certificate is required. However, to take courses:

Use only the credits listed in the English-taught course catalogue, as these are the official credits for Erasmus students. Credits in the syllabi, on the university website, or on AGORA are for regular students. FGES adds 1 extra credit for Erasmus students, already included in the course catalogue.
No. There are no course or credit limits at FGES for exchange students. You should follow the credit requirements set by your home university.
Please write “N/A” in your Learning Agreement. FGES courses do not have official codes. The codes you see in the course catalogue are used only in Hyperplanning (fges courses platform) to help you locate your schedule and are not official course codes.

FGES does not issue Confirmation of Stay or Attendance Certificates. This document must be issued by your home university. Once provided, FGES will review and sign the document accordingly.
The arrival and departure dates must follow the guidelines set by your home university. You may indicate either the start of the academic year or your actual arrival date. For the departure, use either your exact departure date or the last day of your exams, depending on your home university’s requirements.
The certificate must be fully completed by the student before submitting it. FGES will only proceed with signing the filled document.
FGES cannot guarantee accommodation. However, after your nomination, we will provide detailed information and helpful resources to guide your search. While students are responsible for arranging their own housing, the following partners can assist:
FGES is happy to guide you, but we cannot issue housing certificates or act as a guarantor.
You can use your acceptance letter as official proof of enrollment. FGES does not issue any additional certificates for accommodation.
FGES faculty does not offer scholarships for exchange students. We recommend that you check with your home university for any available funding options.
Yes. If your nationality is not from an EU member country, you are required to obtain a French student visa, regardless of your current residence.

Yes, attendance at the Welcome Session is mandatory for all nominated Erasmus students at FGES. The session consists of two parts: an online and an in-person session. Both parts are essential, as they provide important information about course selection and other key aspects of your experience at FGES.
