Incoming Mobility

Does your university have a partnership with the Université Catholique de Lille or the FGES? Would you like to nominate students to study at our institution for a term or a one-year exchange? We would be delighted to welcome them!

  • There is no registration fee if students come to study at Université Catholique de Lille in the framework of an exchange program.
  • To participate in an exchange program at FGES, students must be officially nominated by their home University. Self-nominations are not accepted.
HOW TO APPLY?

STEP 1: NOMINATION PROCESS

For partner universities: how to nominate your students?

  • All exchange students must be nominated by their home university.
  • Nomination is done through an online nomination form, if nominating multiple students, the form must be filled out separately for each student.
  • The home university must submit the student’s details using the provided link.
  • The nomination deadline is one month before the application deadline.

STEP 2: THE APPLICATION PROCESS

For partner universities:

  • Your students will receive all necessary application and pre-arrival information directly from FGES.
  • If you have any questions, feel free to contact our International Relations Office.

For exchange students:

 After your nomination is accepted, you will receive:

  • A confirmation email with the online application form.
  • The Welcome Kit with all practical information about Lille, FGES, accommodation, and student life.

Once your application is processed:

  • If you require a visa, you will receive an acceptance letter and practical information via email.
  • A signed hard copy of your acceptance letter can be sent on request for visa purposes.

As an exchange student, you may choose any course at our faculty, regardless of the field or the academic year.

Language of Instruction:
Courses are typically taught in French, but we also offer a large number of courses in English.

If you are studying Biology, Life & Environmental Sciences, or Computer Science, you must take courses in both languages (English and French) to meet the required ECTS credits.

Grading & Credits:
 France, like all EU member states, uses the ECTS (European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System).

Nomination at FGES

Self-nominations are not accepted. Your home university must nominate you to FGES.

Once nominated, you’ll receive all the necessary details about registration, course selection, and the updated course catalogue.

Registration Form, Application step (Agora)

After the nomination deadline (fall term: 15/10 and spring term: 01/05), you will receive an email from information@univ-catholille.fr with your login credentials (ID and password) and instructions to complete your registration form.

You must complete the online application form and upload all required documents in PDF format.

For Non-European Students:

  • Formal ID photo (JPEG)
  • Passport copy
  • Updated transcripts (English or French)
  • Birth certificate
  • Proof of health insurance in English

If you don’t have a French translation of your birth certificate yet, you may upload it in your native language for now. A certified French translation will be required upon arrival to register for French Social Security.

For European Students:

  • Formal ID photo (JPEG)
  • Passport or national ID copy
  • Updated transcripts
  • Valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC)

We recommend gathering all documents before you start the registration, as everything must be uploaded at once. No paper copies are needed upon arrival in Lille.

You can temporarily use the address of Université Catholique de Lille, you’ll be able to update your address later once you have secured your own accommodation.

Enter the name of the person at your home university that manages your mobility (IRO, or academic advisor)

No. For the AGORA application, a translation is not required.
However, an official French translation may be needed later for certain procedures in France, like opening a bank account or residency paperwork.

No. There’s no need to email us. We will review your course selection directly in your AGORA profile.

If your application is complete and nothing is missing, it will be validated, and you will receive your acceptance letter from FGES. You will later receive instructions and an invitation to an online welcome session to help you with course selection and answer any questions before arriving in Lille.

Health Insurance Proof

  • EU students: Upload a valid European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) — ensure it is not expired.
  • Non-EU students: Provide proof of health insurance that covers you until you can enroll in the French health system. The document must clearly indicate the coverage period and confirm that you’re insured during the start of your stay in France.

No, Université Catholique de Lille and FGES do not provide health insurance. You may choose any plan from your home country, but it should include medical repatriation coverage. Proof of insurance must be uploaded on AGORA with your application.

No. Your health insurance must cover your entire stay in France, including the full duration of your courses and exams.

Acceptance Letter

You will receive your acceptance letter by email once your application form has been reviewed and validated (fall term: after the 15/11, Spring term: after the 1/06)

Course Catalogue & Course Outlines (Syllabi)

You can find the most up-to-date course catalogue and other key documents on our website: fges.fr/international/incomings

To access the available course outlines, please send us an email to international.fges@univ-catholille.fr. We will then provide you with a link and password to access the documents.

If the syllabus is not included in the documents you received, it means it’s not currently available. You’ll need to request it directly from the course instructor once classes begin. The International Relations Office does not provide syllabi.

Course Selection

A minimum level of B2 in French to attend courses taught in French.

No, if you are nominated to FGES, you are not permitted to take courses from other faculties.

The course selection in AGORA is preliminary. You’ll receive a form by email to finalize your choices. You can also update your selection during the in-person course selection meeting, followed by a two-weeks add/drop period to make final changes.

Yes. Erasmus students can take courses from both Bachelor’s and master’s programs, regardless of their current level of study.

No certificate is required. However, to take courses:

  • In English, you should have at least B2 level
  • In French, a B2 level is recommended

No official proof (e.g., IELTS, TOEFL) is needed.

Credits at FGES

Use only the credits listed in the English-taught course catalogue, as these are the official credits for Erasmus students. Credits in the syllabi, on the university website, or on AGORA are for regular students. FGES adds 1 extra credit for Erasmus students, already included in the course catalogue.

No. There are no course or credit limits at FGES for exchange students. You should follow the credit requirements set by your home university.

Learning Agreement (LA or OLA)

Please write “N/A” in your Learning Agreement. FGES courses do not have official codes. The codes you see in the course catalogue are used only in Hyperplanning  (fges courses platform) to help you locate your schedule and are not official course codes.

The deadline depends on the requirements of your home university. PLease be aware that the LA can always be amended due to class changes.

The academic calendar is published approximately one month before the semester begins and will be available on our website: fges.fr/international/incomings

Exam and course schedules depend on your individual course selection and whether you are enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program.

Attendance Certificate (Arrival & Departure)- Confirmation of Stay

FGES does not issue Confirmation of Stay or Attendance Certificates. This document must be issued by your home university. Once provided, FGES will review and sign the document accordingly.

The arrival and departure dates must follow the guidelines set by your home university. You may indicate either the start of the academic year or your actual arrival date. For the departure, use either your exact departure date or the last day of your exams, depending on your home university’s requirements.

The certificate must be fully completed by the student before submitting it. FGES will only proceed with signing the filled document.

Accommodation

FGES cannot guarantee accommodation. However, after your nomination, we will provide detailed information and helpful resources to guide your search. While students are responsible for arranging their own housing, the following partners can assist:

FGES is happy to guide you, but we cannot issue housing certificates or act as a guarantor.

You can use your acceptance letter as official proof of enrollment. FGES does not issue any additional certificates for accommodation.

Accommodation

FGES faculty does not offer scholarships for exchange students. We recommend that you check with your home university for any available funding options.

Visa –Non-European Students

Yes. If your nationality is not from an EU member country, you are required to obtain a French student visa, regardless of your current residence.

Welcome Session

Yes, attendance at the Welcome Session is mandatory for all nominated Erasmus students at FGES. The session consists of two parts: an online and an in-person session. Both parts are essential, as they provide important information about course selection and other key aspects of your experience at FGES.

 

Online Welcome Session by Teams:

This session will:

  • Introduce you to Hyperplanning – the platform you will use daily to check your class schedule and exam dates.
  • Provide details about the upcoming In-Person Welcome Sessions.
  • Include a Q&A session where you can ask questions.

After the online session (a Teams link will be sent in advance), we will share a Google Form to draft your final course selection. This form will include the updated course catalogue

 

In-Person Welcome Sessions:

This session will include:

  • A comprehensive explanation of academic rules and examination procedures.
  • A guided tour of the FGES campus and classrooms.
  • On-site support for adding/dropping courses in person.

Students interested in pursuing a double degree at FGES — whether at the Bachelor or Master level, should note that this option is available only through specific partner universities and designated programs.

  • Nomination Process:
    Nominations must be submitted by the home university coordinator during April.
     Deadline: End of April.

    Once nominated, students must complete their full application by:15th of July
